Sr. Systems Engineer: Site Reliability Engineer

What You Will Be Doing:
You will be an integral part of the IT Rental Operations Products team, supporting mission-critical rental ticketing systems. In this role, you will ensure the availability, performance, and efficiency of complex hybrid solutions spanning cloud, web services, and legacy infrastructure. You will monitor solution health, troubleshoot production issues, and lead initiatives to improve system reliability. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including development and operations, to incorporate best practices in supporting our API-first strategy.

This is a full-time position with the opportunity to work remotely within the United States, mostly within U.S. Central Standard Time core hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies for system availability, performance, and capacity planning for rental solutions.
• Monitor system health and respond to outages, performance issues, and capacity concerns proactively.
• Partner with engineering teams to design and optimize infrastructure architecture for scalability and resilience.
• Analyze production issues, diagnose root causes, and lead resolution efforts to minimize downtime.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and operational standards to ensure best practices.
• Support system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities while maintaining system stability.
• Lead efforts to automate operational tasks through scripting and other Dev Ops tools.
• Provide expertise and mentorship on site reliability best practices across the team and organization.

Required

Skills & Experience:

• 3+ years of experience working in a software development or engineering environment supporting cloud, middleware, and infrastructure solutions.
• Proficiency with supporting languages and technologies such as Java, Web Services, C/C++, and PL/SQL.
• At least 2 years of experience configuring middleware like Tuxedo, Web Logic, and Tomcat.
• Hands-on experience as an AIX/Linux system administrator with supporting tools.
• 2+ years of scripting experience in Shell/Bash, Python, Perl, Power Shell, or similar.
• Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or equivalents.
• Ability to work within CST hours with U.S. work authorization, without sponsorship needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
• Must be committed to security best practices in daily tasks.

Desired

Skills & Experience:

• General network engineering knowledge and experience.
• Familiarity with system/infrastructure testing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques.
• Capacity planning methodologies and hardware concepts across infrastructure environments.
• Knowledge of SQL and database management.
