St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – South provides specialized care for clients diagnosed with mental illness in a long-term, inpatient hospital setting with forensic involvement.
ResponsibilitiesThe Deaf Services Program (embedded within the Transitional Rehabilitation Program) is Forensic Treatment Center – South is seeking a PRN Sign Language Interpreter to assist in providing treatment services to 2 Deaf clients within our treatment continuum. This is a part-time (19.5 hours/week), non-benefits eligible position. The PRN Sign Language Interpreter, during the course of the typical work week, will interpret during the following activities:
- Screening, assessment, or re-assessment, whether done for the purposes of determining eligibility for services, diagnosis, or for the development or modification of a plan of treatment
- Treatment planning or discharge planning meetings, or the preparation for such meetings
- Individual psychotherapy/psycho educational session
- Group psychotherapy/psycho educational sessions
- Individual substance use counseling sessions
- Group substance use counseling session
- Ad hoc problem solving and crisis management involving Deaf clients
- Visits with legal guardian and/or interested family
- Must have prior experience providing care for clients diagnosed with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or intellectual developmental disorders
- Must be willing to work up to 19 hours a week, no more than 1039 annually, as needed
- In accordance with section 209, RSMo and 5 CSR , interpreters that are used for mental health assignments shall be licensed and certified in the state of Missouri.
- Interpreters for the Department of Mental Health (DMH) shall have a certification level of Comprehensive or Advanced and preference will be given to those interpreters that have completed the Introduction to Mental Health Interpreting training found .gov/deaf services/training.
