St. Louis County Counselor's office seeks an Attorney III with significant employment experience to join their team in a part‑time capacity. This position is responsible for representing St. Louis County in administrative and litigation related to employment matters. Leading or supervising lower‑level attorneys on projects distinguishes this job class from P913‑Attorney II.

- Handle complex employment litigation and administrative representation
- Provide legal advice, opinions and guidance in employment matters
- Perform other duties assigned to the County Counselor’s office
- Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an American law school accredited by the American Bar Association
- Current licensure as an attorney by the Missouri Bar Association
- Five years of related work experience as a licensed attorney
A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant, including recent education and experience, supplemental questions, employment reference investigation, and other appropriate information. The committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job‑related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant’s earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.
After initial interviews, an email will be sent with instructions on completing a Conviction Questionnaire, which candidates have 3 days to complete. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority for final decision. All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
