We are looking for a forward-thinking, hands-on litigator to join Emerson’s global Litigation Group as the Associate General Counsel, Litigation. This position will report directly to Emerson’s VP, litigation and will provide comprehensive legal support to the Litigation Group, law department, business units, and world areas on a broad array of complex litigation, and may also be responsible for management and supervision of Non-Lawyer Professionals within the Litigation Group.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Provides litigation advice to the VP Litigation, law department, business units and world areas on a broad spectrum of legal issues while exercising independent judgment
Supports the VP, Litigation and Legal team in:
Managing complex litigation, arbitration, and pre-litigation claims involving Emerson on a global basis, including asbestos (tax and employment excluded)
Managing and/or drafting complaints, responses to subpoenas, discovery, or notices
Managing outside counsel and experts
Providing legal support to product safety and claims teams and potential product recalls
Staying abreast of litigation industry and related laws, regulations and practices
Formulation and implementation of strategy for litigation process improvements
Interfacing and collaborating with foreign and domestic internal and external legal resources
Implementing corporate policies throughout all applicable businesses
Strategic projects in different areas (e.g. implementation of various legislation, applicable new directives and regulations)
Identify and lead various strategic initiatives of the Legal team
May manage, mentor, and train other members of the Litigation Group
May manage due diligence process for company acquisitions and divestitures
Works cooperatively and collaboratively with Emerson Law Department colleagues, Emerson business personnel and outside counsel on litigation, pre-litigation, and other matters
Exercises sound professional judgment, acts with integrity, and drive results at all times to protect and enhance the image and reputation of Emerson and the Law Department

For This Role, You Will Need:
- Relevant work experience working on and/or managing complex litigation required; knowledge and experience with international laws.
Licensed to practice law in Missouri or another U.S. state
- Law Degree from an accredited U.S. law school
Applicants seeking both full time and part-time positions may be considered depending on experience
Forward thinking and strategic, solution-finding, practical, with a strong business acumen, able to weigh and take reasonable risks
Self-motivated and keen on getting involved in all kinds of legal matters and business areas
Comfortable working with senior management
Excellent oral and written English language skills
Openness to travel
Intermediate MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
At least 6 years of relevant work experience working on and/or managing complex litigation required; knowledge and experience with international laws preferred
