Salary: Starting at $65,000 per year plus 10% annual incentive opportunity
About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Buyer to lead purchasing activity and help keep production running smoothly. This role is responsible for managing suppliers, ensuring materials arrive on time, and improving how we buy and manage inventory. You will take ownership of key vendor relationships, solve supply issues, and help improve processes across the supply chain. This is a hands-on role with strong visibility across production, quality, and operations.
Responsibilities- Purchasing and Supplier Management
- Manage day-to-day purchasing to support production needs
- Own relationships with key vendors and drive performance
- Oversee the full purchase order lifecycle
- Inventory and Planning
- Ensure materials are ordered on time and inventory targets are met
- Monitor and adjust safety stock levels
- Support and improve Kanban and stocking programs
- Manage inventory through product changes
- Vendor Performance and Cost Management
- Track and improve on-time delivery and lead times
- Manage component costs and report updates to leadership
- Develop vendor agreements to support supply stability
- Issue Resolution
- Act as the main point of contact for supplier issues related to delivery, quality, or communication
- Partner with Quality on non-conforming materials, returns, and corrective actions
- Communicate delays and risks to the production team
- Data and Systems
- Maintain accurate vendor and part data in the ERP system
- Analyze forecasts and send updates to suppliers
- Track performance against key metrics
- Continuous Improvement and Team Support
- Identify and drive process improvements within purchasing and inventory
- Support and mentor junior team members
- Participate in cross-functional improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience managing suppliers and resolving supply issues
- Solid problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex situations
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
- Experience with ERP systems and Excel
Education
- Associate degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kanban systems
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with data and forecasts
- Experience negotiating with vendors
- Combination of office and plant or warehouse setting
- Regular computer work along with time on the production floor
- May involve walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
- Local travel plus up to 10 percent domestic travel
