Job Description
The Account Management Specialist will work closely with assigned customer accounts to resolve issues, manage accessorial charges, and optimize transportation solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop proactive relationships with customers and resolve issues and concerns promptly.
- Determine billable accessorial charges, follow company processes, minimize disputes, assist in collections, and collaborate with Account Managers to reduce charges.
- Manage, monitor, and report order acceptance, maintenance, and accessorials via email, phone, and Hub Group transportation management systems.
- Offer alternative transportation solutions by analyzing internal and external account metrics.
- Ensure customers receive the best product at the lowest possible cost; maximize margin, network efficiency, and On‑Time Performance (OTP).
- Communicate with shipper and consignee contacts regarding exception notifications and problem resolution.
- Maximize hub profitability and reduce customer cost exposure by managing assets such as container pools in collaboration with Operations.
- Maintain quality service by monitoring standards, advising supervisors of potential problems, and working with Managers, Account Management, and Operations Groups to resolve single‑load concerns in a timely manner.
- Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned or changed from time to time.
- Work weekend rotations when scheduled.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or management preferred.
- Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
- Experience with EDI processes, Web Tender Portals, fax, and other applicable forms of electronic communication preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a customer‑focused attitude.
Up to $50,000 per year base salary + bonus eligibility.
