Location: St. Louis

  • Purchase productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling, and services
  • Participate in developing commodity strategies
  • Lead complex global sourcing and negotiations with key supplier partners
  • Execute global and regional material budgets
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain sourcing pipelines, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global direct material budgets, and on-time metrics
  • Adhere to corporate and departmental purchasing and accounting practices and procedures
  • Develop and manage sourcing strategies and bid lists
  • Analyze and review quotes
  • Coordinate RFQ package components, including terms and conditions, SOR compliance, technical documentation, and quality alignment
  • Lead sourcing recommendations and alignment with cross-functional teams
  • Manage sourcing documentation for RFQ processes in accordance with GM Audit Services requirements
  • Lead supplier relationship management initiatives, including Strategic Supplier Engagement
  • Act as a focal point for commercial issue resolution with suppliers
  • Lead or represent purchasing in supplier KPI reviews
  • Represent purchasing and support mitigation of supply chain disruptions
  • Conduct contract analysis and rate management, including amendments, spot buys, rate analysis, and supplier requests
  • Drive continuous improvement, identify savings opportunities, advance automation, and introduce innovative solutions
  • Support or lead additional projects assigned by management
  • Promote GM behaviors and values and make customer-focused decisions
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics, finance, account management, business development, or product development; internship or co-op experience will not be considered
  • Competency using automated tools and ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Ability to communicate relevant information effectively and timely to the appropriate audience
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive, cooperative working relationships
  • Negotiation skills to engage in collaborative discussions and reach meaningful agreements
  • Analytical thinking and ability to determine solutions and impacts
  • Ability to take charge, seize opportunities, and deliver on time
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize critical needs
  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • Experience with commodities (preferred)
  • Cost analysis or manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Automotive industry experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Capacity and Materials Management (preferred)
  • Ability to draw conclusions from complex data, market trends, and the regulatory environment (preferred)
  • Ability to understand basic engineering documents and technical drivers for applicable commodities (preferred)
  • Knowledge of contract law as it applies to purchasing processes (preferred)
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or other immigration support
  • Ability to work in the specified hybrid arrangement and report to the location at least 3 times a week
  • Ability to travel less than 25% for the role
  • Must accept responsibility for relocation costs, as the role is not eligible for relocation benefits
