Supervises the daily routine of custodial employees assigned to the area, assigns schedules/routes, and addresses coverage problems. Serves as the working lead to ensure all job tasks are completed daily; observes work performance, both in quality and quantity; identifies training needs; and advises the custodial manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as Team Leader for safety to discuss and provide proper PPE to custodial staff.
- Conducts regular team meetings.
- Canvass all areas daily, conducting spot checks for thoroughness and quality.
- Supervises and trains custodial workers on such tasks as: general cleaning; stripping and waxing floors; buffing floors; extracting carpets; reporting progress to the manager.
- Perform custodial inspections to ensure the quality of work in the assigned area.
- Perform building inspections to ensure overall quality (cleanliness, cosmetics, repairs, etc.).
- Compile a weekly list of supplies needed.
- Order and distribute cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ensure all keys and pagers are checked in and out in accordance with department procedures.
- Learn and apply knowledge of the schedules, procedures, and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work.
- Works with the supervisor on staffing, paperwork, scheduling issues, and monthly quality assurance inspections.
- Communicate effectively at all levels, both orally and in writing.
- Instruct assigned personnel on the proper execution of their responsibilities.
- Assign and review the work of direct report custodial staff.
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Assist the manager with continuous training for current employees.
- Act as a manager in the absence of a manager.
- Attend leadership training courses as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications- Some college.
