Traveling Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in institutional healthcare construction
, specifically within occupied hospital environments
. This role is based in St. Louis, MO
, with travel required to support projects in neighboring states before returning to the St. Louis market.

The ideal candidate understands the complexities of working in active healthcare facilities — including infection control, phasing, life safety compliance, and coordination in high-sensitivity environments.

• Lead institutional healthcare projects within occupied hospital environments.
• Manage projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules with careful phasing to minimize disruption to ongoing hospital operations.
• Oversee budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and change order management.
• Coordinate closely with hospital administrators, facilities teams, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, life safety standards, and infection control requirements (ICRA).
• Manage subcontractor buyout, scope alignment, and field coordination.
• Provide consistent reporting and updates to ownership and executive leadership.
• Travel as needed to support projects in neighboring states before transitioning back to St. Louis-based work.

• 7+ years of experience with a General Contractor.
• Proven experience managing institutional healthcare or hospital projects
  , preferably in occupied environments.
• Strong understanding of healthcare phasing, interim life safety measures (ILSM), and infection control procedures.
• Experience managing projects $15M+ preferred.
• Strong financial acumen and schedule management expertise.
• Proficiency in Procore, MS Project, P6, or similar platforms.

• Strong leadership and communication skills in sensitive, high-stakes environments.
• Ability to manage complex phasing and maintain hospital operations during construction.
• Detail-oriented with proactive problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel regionally before returning to work in the St. Louis market.
