The Assistant Chief of Sterile Processing Service (SPS) serves as the assistant chief role to Associate Chief Nurse, SPS. The focus of the performance encompasses a combination of clinical, educational, and administrative responsibilities. The incumbent works collaboratively with the ACN, SPS in clinical and administrative duties such as: performance/process improvement activities, special programs, policies and procedures, time schedules, and staff education and training.
DutiesThe Assistant Chief for Sterile Processing Service (SPS) serves in an assistant chief role to Associate Chief Nurse, SPS. The incumbent works collaboratively with the ACN, SPS in clinical and administrative duties such as, Performance/Process Improvement activities, special programs, policies and procedures, time schedules, and staff education and training. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the ACN, Sterile Processing Services (SPS), in oversight of all operational and administrative activities of the service.
The selectee will be responsible for the quality management system activities within Sterile Processing Services, to include training, competency assessment, development, and enforcement of standard operating procedures. Provides technical and direct supervision to GS3-GS8 Medical Supply Technicians (MST), MST Leads, and MST Supervisors. Manages, directs, and adapts work to accomplish program goals and objectives, and to meet new and changing program requirements.
Serves as liaison between SPS and other departments.
