Position: Batch Making / Compo under / Blender - PCI
Location: St. Louis

A successful Batch Maker will be responsible for accurately measuring, transferring, and mixing various raw materials according to precise batch tickets and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to produce high-quality chemical products. This role is crucial to maintaining product integrity, safety standards, and production schedules.

Minimum Requirements /

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment, preferably within chemical handling or liquid processing experience.
  • Forklift Certification: Must be certified or have previous experience operating a sit-down forklift.
  • Attention to Detail: Must possess a high attention to detail and a strong ability to read and accurately interpret written instructions, numbers, and technical documents (batch tickets, SOPs).
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage calculations) for accurate measurement and inventory management and a strong understanding of weights, decimals, and percentages.
  • Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills are required, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word, for data entry and record management.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and moving equipment.
  • Work Ethic: Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Primary responsibilities for Batch Makers are as follows:
  • Batching Operations: Accurately follow detailed batch tickets and work instructions to select, weigh, measure, and charge multiple raw chemicals into mixing tanks and transfer into holding tanks.
  • Material Handling: Safely operated material handling equipment, including sit-down forklifts, pumps, and scales, to move raw materials from storage locations to the production floor and mixing tanks.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the batching process to ensure all parameters (temperature, mixing time, etc.) are within specified limits. Take samples of finished product for laboratory testing and adjustments as instructed. Transfer completed batch to holding tank after receiving the quality release.
  • Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous and accurate documentation of all lot number and materials used, process steps completed, and quality control data on batch records. Precise documentation is essential for regulatory compliance, product traceability, and ensuring consistent product quality across every batch. This includes inputting data into computer systems, which may involve using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all plant safety rules, environmental regulations, and quality standards (e.g., ISO). Participate in safety training and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain exceptional housekeeping standards within the work area. Ensure that tanks, pumps, hoses, buckets, scoops, funnels, and scales are rinsed, cleaned, and or sanitized according to Operating Procedures. Removing and loading empty containers (drums) onto storage trailers while keeping a tally of loaded containers. This involves immediate cleanup of spills, proper labeling and storage of raw materials and waste, and ensuring all equipment and floors are kept clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient workplace free of hazards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic checks and minor maintenance on pumps, scales, and mixing equipment, and report any equipment malfunctions to the plant manager and or a maintenance mechanic.
Required PPE includes, but is not limited to:
  • Steel-toed safety boots
  • Full-face respirator
  • Safety glasses
  • Chemical-resistant gloves

Note:
The company provides all required PPE, excluding steel-toed boots. You must be respirator fit tested and comply with facial hair regulatory standards.
