QA Inspector Job Description

The QA Inspector ensures that all products released for distribution comply with applicable specifications. They will identify and store materials in the warehouse appropriately, ensuring only approved materials are used in production. This role involves sampling and testing materials to meet specifications before their use in production, while also ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manufacturing requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable SOPs and Batch Record Instructions.
  • Receive, sample, and test all raw materials and components.
  • Quarantine and release finished products for shipping.
  • Label and store all articles, including raw materials, components, and finished products, according to SOPs.
  • Administer the label program and maintain label inventory.
  • Inspect production lines for personal protective equipment, labels, codes, weights, and product specification compliance.
  • Conduct appropriate sampling, storage, and status labeling of incoming materials and finished products.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in product investigations for deviations, complaints, or product failures.
  • Perform batch record reviews to ensure only approved ingredients, components, and labeling are used in production.
  • Facilitate reconciliation of label inventory and issue labels to production.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1+ years of quality inspection experience in a GMP environment, 3+ years preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for working within a QMS/Database, such as SAP or equivalent ERP.
  • Experience with raw material sampling (AQL) and production line checks or line clearances.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be willing to drive a Forklift upon conversion to a full-time employee, although not required during the initial assignment.
Work Environment

The role operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the possibility of Saturday work, typically one Saturday a month. Inspectors may need to cover for the night shift inspector occasionally. The team comprises three inspectors and a supervisor, and collaboration with production and warehouse personnel is required. The QA Inspector will spend about 20% of their time in an office environment, with the remainder in production and warehouse settings.

These environments may be dusty due to powdered or animal feed-based products. The role includes 6 paid holidays and 40 hours of PTO, with a plan for conversion to a permanent position at the end of the assignment.
