Location: St. Louis
An industrial chemical manufacturer based in St. Louis, MO is seeking an experienced, highly data‑driven Plant Operations Engineer
. This is a full‑time and direct hire role, requiring strong people management skills, previous experience managing operations at a chemical manufacturing facility, and a positive, team‑oriented mindset.
- Gather data to determine overall production efficiency, including running plant trials, time studies, OEE, uptime vs. downtime studies, etc., and use this data to develop tangible improvements to production, including determining manpower requirements and scheduling, equipment upgrades, and overall process improvements.
- Coordinate, plan and execute plant operation activities to optimize customer production and load requirements, in consultation with project managers and team members.
- Direct and support capital improvement projects as required, including assisting with the design of new manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Create, update and organize documents as needed for plant administration, operations, and maintenance.
- Propose ideas for improving manufacturing processes and maintenance operations
- Direct the implementation of process and equipment changes to maximize productivity.
- Lead and work with the maintenance department and outside vendors to assure that equipment, tools, and instruments are in proper working order and repaired or inspected in a timely manner.
- Work with management to prepare and distribute performance targets, budget, and reports
- Work with plant health and safety teams to address any issues in a prompt, timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field is required
- Several years of prior work experience in a manufacturing or processing plant, preferably chemical manufacturing
- Strong, proven people management skills, including excellent organizational and communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships at all levels of plant production.
- Strong analytical ability and data‑driven mindset, with experience running studies and collecting data to determine equipment optimization, manpower requirements, and overall production efficiency
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel
