Job Title:
Mechanical Assembler
The Mechanical Assembler will build large palletizing machines from start to finish by interpreting blueprints and assembling complex mechanical and electrical components. This role focuses on full machine builds rather than repetitive station or assembly line work and requires strong mechanical aptitude, precision, and hands‑on experience with machine building and assembly tools.
Responsibilities- Assemble large palletizing machines from start to finish using detailed blueprints and schematics.
- Interpret and read mechanical blueprints to determine component placement, assembly sequence, and proper fitment.
- Use hand and power tools to fit, fasten, and secure mechanical and electrical components according to specifications.
- Perform mechanical assembly tasks such as fitting, aligning, and installing parts and subassemblies on machinery.
- Apply brazing techniques as needed during the assembly process in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Verify measurements and component alignment using tape measures and other measuring tools to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Follow production and assembly procedures to build machines that meet performance, safety, and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to troubleshoot assembly issues and resolve mechanical fit or function problems.
- Handle and move parts and assemblies safely, including lifting items up to and above 50 pounds as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while adhering to all safety policies and guidelines.
- At least 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly.
- At least 2 years of experience reading and working from blueprints.
- At least 1 year of experience using hand and power tools in an assembly or mechanical environment.
- Proven experience building or assembling machines rather than only operating them.
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to understand how components fit and function within a complete machine.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics accurately.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures.
- Capability to perform mechanical assembly tasks with attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds safely as part of daily work duties.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with machine building in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with brazing techniques used in mechanical assembly.
- Exposure to electrical assembly or working with schematics during machine builds.
- Strong attention to detail when working on large, complex machinery.
- Ability to follow structured assembly processes while working independently on full builds.
- Solid problem-solving skills for addressing mechanical and assembly-related issues.
Schedules: 1st shift (6am-2:30p) and 2nd shift (2:30-11p). The role is based in a large, manufacturing facility focused on building palletizing machines and related equipment. The workspace is climate controlled, although temperature can be harder to regulate due to the size of the facility. Team members work with a variety of hand and power tools, measuring devices, and assembly equipment around large machinery and components.
The environment supports full machine builds rather than repetitive line work, and the physical nature of the job includes lifting and moving heavy parts as part of daily activities.
