R&D TECHNICIAN, MECHANICAL Synthio Chemicals is an early-stage, rapidly-growing specialty chemical manufacturer. The firm uses state- of-the-art continuous flow equipment and process intensification techniques to produce high-value specialty chemicals for industrial and defense markets. Our products range from additives for rocket propellants to chemicals for semiconductor processing. This is a hands-on position, where you will be assembling and troubleshooting new production equipment and testing systems.

This will including assembling and testing experimental hardware and production equipment from process and instrumentation diagrams and electrical diagrams, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic subsystems. You may troubleshoot and maintain production equipment. Along with all other staff, you will help maintain lab and production area cleanliness and organization. You will also document your work, verbally and on the diagrams and instructions you use.

You will work closely with small teams of senior technicians, engineers and scientists to build the next generation of highly automated chemical synthesis systems. Responsibilities
• Assemble control panels
• Wire instruments and sensors
• Mechanical assembly of production equipment
• Assemble hydraulic systems and piping (mostly stainless steel tubing and Swagelok connections)
• Build systems based on process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic subsystems
• Maintain detailed lab notes and red-line drawings
• Maintain a clean and organized work area Requirements
• High school diploma required. Prefer Certificate or AS degree in engineering or manufacturing technology or equivalent (will accept current students)
• Experience in assembly, HVAC, automation, or automotive technology is a plus
• Prefer experience with small-gauge wiring (e.g. control panels)
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and must be able to pass a background check Details
• Full time position • $24/hour – $27/hour, depending on qualifications
