- Contribute to the business objectives and strategic product development by assisting with the evaluation and improvement of existing product lines as identified to maximize profit.
- Assist with and/or develop, formulate, and test new products to meet customer requirements, ensuring the products meet standards before market introduction/launch.
- Hands‑on laboratory development of formulations to be sold as dry mixes for the industrial production of cakes, donuts, muffins, and other sweet goods.
- Improve flavor, color, volume, texture, stale‑free shelf life and mold‑free shelf life of sweet goods.
- Report results, findings, conclusions, and recommendations on all new ingredients, products, and suppliers to maximize profit and ensure a competitive advantage.
- Stay abreast of new ingredients and developments in the sweet goods area, including technical literature, trade literature, and patents.
- Act as a Project Manager by adhering to the New Product Development Process, including all documentation from ideation to product launch.
- Assist with evaluating and reporting on potential new AB Mauri products from GBI and sister companies, as required.
- Conduct all activities safely, wearing PPE as necessary.
- Contribute to technical training seminars and/or information as requested.
- Provide manufacturing, sales, and marketing support upon request.
- Support procurement by evaluating and testing new and alternative raw materials.
- Provide technical information and assistance to sales, marketing, and customers, especially for customized implementations, building collaborative relationships with vendors and customers.
- Support TSMs in the field as required.
- Ensure department expenses are within budget.
- Comply with the Corporate Travel policy and control spending.
- Contribute to department and capital budget preparations to ensure laboratory needs are met, as requested.
- Actively update line management on project progression.
- Communicate results, conclusions, and recommendations of new product testing accurately and timely to all appropriate personnel.
- Interact and communicate professionally with Product Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality, Sales, and other departments.
- Complete weekly reports and monthly project reviews by due date.
- Complete project documentation within the product life cycle management software.
- Accurately document project progress, including conclusions and recommendations.
- Dedicate to meeting customer needs.
- Advocate for the customer with uncompromising, committed, and always seeking to make it easier for our customers.
- Actively listen to customers and respond appropriately.

- Keep abreast of Bakery and Baking Ingredient Technology and enhance technical skills by attending appropriate seminars, professional meetings, training, and additional coursework.

- Preferred combination of skills and knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Bakery Science, Food Science, or a related discipline; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience.
- Willing to learn ingredient functionality including enzymes, hydrocolloids, emulsifiers, leavening agents, and more.
- Capable or willing to learn to formulate donuts, cakes, and muffins for industrial bakeries.
- Knowledge of dry mix operations and industrial sweet goods production is very helpful.
- Analytical skills or willing to learn standard analytical tests associated with dry mixes and sweet goods.
- Ability to work with standard computer software (Windows, Excel, Word) and learn other specialized software specific to AB Mauri.
