Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly
Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly supports and improves assembly operations in a production environment, with a strong focus on optimizing assembly lines, enhancing efficiency, and resolving production issues through hands-on engineering support on the shop floor.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct detailed time studies and analyze assembly workflows to improve line efficiency and productivity.
+ Perform motion analysis, including hand-in-motion studies, to optimize operator tasks and reduce waste.
+ Troubleshoot production and assembly issues in real time on the shop floor and implement effective corrective actions.
+ Improve line balance, throughput, and overall process flow across multiple production lines.
+ Apply structured problem-solving methods such as DMAIC and 5 Whys to identify root causes and drive sustainable solutions.
+ Partner closely with operations teams to implement process improvements and establish standard work practices.
+ Support the development, refinement, and maintenance of work instructions, process documentation, and visual aids for assembly operations.
+ Leverage knowledge of machining fundamentals, including tolerances, feeds, and speeds, to support upstream and downstream processes and ensure production quality.
+ Continuously identify opportunities for lean manufacturing initiatives and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
+ 3 to 7+ years of relevant manufacturing experience supporting assembly or production lines in a manufacturing environment.
+ Proven experience conducting time studies and driving process optimization in assembly operations.
+ Hands-on troubleshooting experience addressing production and assembly issues on the shop floor.
+ Strong background in manufacturing engineering and process engineering within a production environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to apply structured problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC and 5 Whys.
+ Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
+ Solid understanding of machining fundamentals, including tolerances, feeds, and speeds, and their impact on assembly and production quality.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with operations and cross-functional teams to implement process improvements.
+ Strong analytical skills to interpret workflow data and translate findings into actionable improvements.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
+ Experience performing motion analysis and hand-in-motion studies to optimize operator productivity.
+ background in line balancing and throughput optimization across multiple assembly lines.
+ Experience creating and maintaining work instructions, process documentation, and visual management tools.
+ Knowledge of standard work development and implementation in a manufacturing environment.
+ Exposure to continuous improvement frameworks and lean tools used in high-volume production settings.
Work Environment
This role is based onsite in a manufacturing environment, working closely with assembly and production lines and spending significant time on the shop floor. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no regular overtime and no weekend shifts. The environment is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring comfort around production equipment and machinery, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and collaboration with operations teams.

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $44.00/hr.
