Control Systems Engineer – St. Louis

We’re looking for a Control Systems Engineer in St. Louis to focus on managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The role requires above‑average attention to detail, a strong sense of duty, and disciplined, task‑oriented execution.

• Perform Gray Matter services to meet client needs, with a specific focus on Control Systems.
• Design, develop and implement solutions to resolve customer issues.
• Consult with and train end users on new applications.
• Assist in project development and planning.
• Perform onsite pilots, FAT testing, SAT testing, and demos as needed.
• Location:
  
  Missouri.
• 40% independent travel to customer locations.

• Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field (EE, EET, ME, MET) or equivalent experience and training.
• Experience with industrial PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, etc.).
• Required experience with Rockwell PLCs.
• Control Systems implementation, design, installations, and troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of electrical schematics and electrical installations.
• Acute attention to detail and process.
• Strong ability to solve problems and research solutions.
• Excellent customer service attitude.
• Ability to work both independently and in team environments.

• Rockwell PLCs & HMIs
• GE iFix
• Ignition

• Networking experience (Ethernet IP, Modbus, etc.).
• Conveying/packaging experience.
• Other PLC and/or HMI experience.
• Higher level programming such as C++, C#, Python, etc.
• Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, or packaging experience.
