OverviewThe press operator is responsible for operating all of the equipment in the area. Candidates are considered top of their field by being able to successfully troubleshoot all equipment tied to cell and use their expertise to solve problems and eliminate scrap, rework, and downtime. Should be actively involved in Continuous Improvement within the area to promote safety, quality, throughput. Trains all lower-level operators.
May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
- Operate all machinery in a safe manner.
- Must be able to run product at desired rate.
- Should be actively involved in Continuous Improvement within the area to promote safety, quality, throughput, and the addition of any new equipment.
- Help setup with changeover of cell. Perform intermediate adjustments on machinery to assure a quality part is being made.
- Trains all lower-level operators
- Inspect finished parts for gauge thickness, defects, and proper fit up.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience of machine operator.
- Intermediate ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude required.
- Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work and be able to stand on your feet for 8-12 hours a day.
- Must be able to read, follow detailed instructions and understand English.
- Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes.
- Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures – detect defects.
- Must follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to read and work with blueprints, building and repair tooling and dies.
- Ability to train, coordinate, communicate effectively with all departments.
- Able to troubleshoot and manipulate programs.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.
- Ability to use hand tools.
- Ability to read applicable instructions.
