The Repairs Division is seeking a Balance Technician to support our operations at our St. Louis facility. This position will be responsible for the low-speed balance of all steam turbine rotors through the department.

Help define balancing processes and actively pursue continuous improvement. Operate balancing equipment and assist elsewhere within the shop when not actively supporting balance operations. Assist the Balance Team Lead in planning and troubleshooting when issues arise. Report and correct work environment issues daily. The Balance Tech should be able to work independently and in a team environment, and demonstrate a proactive, problem-solving attitude.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:
  • Set up, lift and rig rotors in to the low speed balance machine, balance the rotors to the acceptable limits, install and stake weights.
  • Work as a team member and individual in cross-functional shop projects.
  • Participate in improvement meetings with floor technicians, project engineers, R&D team and operations as necessary.
  • Assist and support continuous improvement with projects of various size and manufacturing processes.
  • Acquire and uphold a full understanding of shop procedures & processes.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using for benefit of third parties.
  • Maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to problem solve variables in standardize situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with steam turbine rotor balance operations, weight characteristics and staking.
  • Familiarity with the IRD and Schenck balance machines.
  • Can easily formulate balance data in a simple report template as required.
