Upstream Processing Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Upstream Processing Technician to support the manufacture of commercial and clinical biologics. The candidate will adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and perform a variety of functions related to upstream cell culture processes. These functions include the propagation of mammalian cell culture, aseptic cell culture operations, execution of large-scale production bioreactors, and conducting large scale filtration or centrifugation.
This role offers a great opportunity to be involved in large-scale biological and chemistry pharmaceutical operations.
Responsibilities
* Review all area documents.
* Manage the WNS.
* Assist in manufacturing controls and calibrators, and complete batch records following cGMPs.
* Perform in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers.
* Weigh, transfer, and mix chemicals as required.
* Perform product filtrations.
* Clean and steam steel tanks (CIP/SIP).
* Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization in autoclave and operate the autoclave.
* Maintain lab equipment including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters.
* Keep department lead or manager updated on all issues.
* Monitor stocks of common lab supplies.
* Perform other job duties as required.
* Respond to emergency notifications.
* Work flexible hours, including weekends.
Essential Skills
* Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operation, production, lab setting, or related field.
* Bachelor's Degree in Science with a focus on aseptic technique, cell culturing, and pipetting.
* Experience in a cGMP environment and knowledge of cGMP practices.
* Proficiency in aseptic techniques, cleanroom operations, and chemical concepts.
* Subject Matter Expertise in upstream processing steps.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
* Preferred: 6 months of experience in a GMP regulated environment.
* Preferred: 4-year STEM degree.
Work Environment
This position requires working in cleanroom and aseptic suites, where you must be willing to gown up in a full gowning suit including bodysuit, gloves, hair and beard nets, face covers, and safety glasses. The work schedule consists of rotating 10-hour shifts, working 40 hours a week, with a specific two-week rotation. You will need to be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs independently and stand for 80% of the shift.
Note that makeup, jewelry, nail polish, cologne, perfume, scented lotions, or hair care products are prohibited.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
