Bachman Machine Company is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker for a full-time, on-site position in St. Louis, Missouri.
This position is responsible for building, fitting, modifying, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing progressive and transfer stamping dies and related production tooling.
Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings; setting up and operating manual and CNC machine tools; performing precision machining, fitting, and measurement; troubleshooting tooling issues on the production floor; and making adjustments necessary to maintain part quality and production performance.
The Tool & Die Maker will work closely with engineering, production, and quality personnel to solve problems, support new tooling, improve existing tooling, and identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, reliability, and efficiency.
Qualifications- Strong precision machining and toolmaking skills, including experience with manual mills, lathes, grinders, and CNC equipment
- Experience building, fitting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining progressive and transfer stamping dies
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T
- Proficiency with precision measurement instruments including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and related inspection equipment
- Strong understanding of metals, tooling materials, machining processes, and die construction
- Ability to diagnose tooling and production problems, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality, organization, and continuous improvement
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams
- Tool & Die apprenticeship, equivalent technical training, or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Experience in stamping or high-volume production environments preferred
- CAD/CAM and CNC machining experience preferred
- Reliable attendance and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
