The Painter at Gateway Studios independently runs a project from start to finish. The painter will assist with finish treatment of set design, or other projects, as directed by the supervisor, in a paint booth setting with a respirator. This position utilizes 3M HVLP paint guns and a pressure pot system (previous experience using this equipment required). This painter applies finishes to wood, steel, plastics, and other materials as required.

Some tasks may require minor repairs involving the use of Bondo, duraglass, and other paint-related repair products.

• Paint set carts, caddies, truss, and other projects.
• Perform minor finish repairs as needed.
• Perform application of finish material error-free (typically, this is a semi-gloss black paint and/or Raptor liner).

• Discuss projects and create plans to produce quality products in the allotted time frames.
• Maintain inventory to increase production and quality.
• Inspect work to verify finishes.

• Ensure departmental goals of safety, quality, productivity, utilization, and delivery schedules are met.
• Keep and operate a clean and safe workspace.
• Maintain painting equipment and the paint booth.

• Attendance is an essential requirement for this position.

• To be determined by supervisor on a permanent or project basis.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License – Good Driving Record.

• 3 years or more of painting experience.

• Familiarity with the operation of all shop paint spraying equipment, air compressors, and paint materials.
• Ability to break down a paint gun and properly maintain it.
• Ability to mix different types of paint.
• Understanding of basic shop safety terminology.
