Welder​/Fabricator - Structural Steel

Job Description

A large, AISC-certified steel-fabrication shop in St. Louis is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator. This position involves fitting, fabricating, and welding structural and miscellaneous steel for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects.

The shop produces stairs, railings, embeds, catwalks, custom-fabricated components, and light structural assemblies. It uses advanced CNC and automated fabrication equipment to produce project-ready steel with accurate fit-up and dependable tolerances.

Responsibilities:

• Perform MIG welding on structural and miscellaneous steel
• Fit and assemble components according to fabrication drawings
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders
• Measure, cut, drill, grind, and prepare material for fabrication
• Fabricate stairs, rails, embeds, catwalks, and structural assemblies
• Operate common welding and fabrication equipment
• Move material using overhead cranes
• Inspect completed work for proper fit, dimensions, and weld quality
• Maintain a clean and safe work area

Qualifications:

• Previous welding and metal-fabrication experience
• Strong MIG welding and fitting skills
• Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
• Ability to read a tape measure and work accurately with fractions
• Structural or miscellaneous steel experience strongly preferred
• Stainless-steel or aluminum experience is a plus
• Overhead-crane experience is preferred
• Ability to pass a weld test
• Dependable attendance and strong attention to detail
