Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician (Technical Specialist) supports a high-speed manufacturing operation by setting up, adjusting, and maintaining production lines used to manufacture home and garden products. This role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime, performing mechanical troubleshooting and repairs, and ensuring products meet quality standards throughout the production process.

Responsibilities

• Set up and perform changeovers on production lines, machinery, and equipment used in the manufacturing of home and garden products.
• Conduct routine maintenance on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, cappers, fillers, labeling equipment, and packaging machines.
• Perform equipment adjustments, preventive maintenance, and repairs to maximize run time and efficiency on the production line.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues and breakdowns on production and packaging equipment in a timely manner.
• Run and operate machinery and equipment after set up to verify proper function and production readiness.
• Perform quality checks on both machinery and finished product to ensure they meet established standards throughout the production run.
• Replace motors and gearboxes and verify proper operation after installation.
• Collaborate with other production and maintenance personnel, including electricians, to address equipment issues and maintain smooth line operation.
• Follow safety procedures and best practices while working around high-speed machinery, forklifts, and other industrial equipment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment performing general maintenance and setting up and running machinery and/or packaging lines.
• Minimum 2 years of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing packaging equipment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience performing set ups and adjustments on machinery or equipment and operating that machinery or equipment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience replacing motors and gearboxes.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility that operates high-speed production and packaging lines for home and garden products. The environment includes working in close proximity to general production workers, machine operators, and forklifts. Shifts follow a rotating 4 days on, 4 days off schedule, with openings on a 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. day shift and a 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. night shift.

Each shift includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch. You will work around conveyors, motors, gearboxes, cappers, fillers, labeling equipment, and packaging machines, and you will collaborate with on-shift electricians for higher-level electrical issues. Appropriate industrial work attire and adherence to safety procedures are expected due to the nature of the manufacturing environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Overland, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.50 - $33.50/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
