Position Details:
- Responsible for providing care to infants, children, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease in the Intensive Care Unit and on the Transitional Care unit.
- Schedule:
Rotating Shifts (12hrs) - Weekend and holiday rotation
- Flexible scheduling
- Preferred:Prior Heart Center or CICU experience (RN or NP)
- Preferred: Prior pediatric experience, Pediatric Acute Care NP certification

Role Purpose
The critical care nurse practitioner is a healthcare provider who works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families in critical care settings. They possess a high level of clinical expertise in dealing with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered in the critical care setting. The nurse practitioner demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
They work with administration staff, nurses, physicians, med/surg trainees, and other staff to ensure safe, effective, high-quality patient care. Minimum Board Certification(s):
BJH:
Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
SLCH ICU:
Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care (CPNP-PC) - will require CPNP-AC within 2 years of hire, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (CPNP-AC), or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP); SLCH NICU: NICU Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification (NNP)
