Position: Student Nurse Tech (SNT)

Location: Bridgeton, MO

Schedule: Full-time Day or Night or PRN Nights - 12 hour shifts 6:45-7:15 (PRN must work 4 shifts per every 6 week period)

Compensation: $21 + $1.50 night shift differential

Sign-On Bonus: $1,500

• This position requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (ADN or BSN program) and must provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent).

• This is the perfect opportunity for a student nurse to gain hands-on experience while enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, assists patients in the rehabilitation process through provision of appropriate nursing care and carryover of rehabilitation techniques.

• Completes daily assignments as directed by a nurse
• Obtains vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations) as directed
• Answers all call lights promptly and reports problems to a primary nurse/designee
• Reinforces rehabilitation techniques as directed to maximize patient recovery
• Participates in the Therapeutic Dysphagia and Feeding Program as assigned; assists with monitoring of diets and nutritional supplements and provides cues to patients for feeding or swallowing as directed by speech or occupational therapy; provides water/juice and snacks as appropriate
• Reports problems and progress to the primary nurse; immediately reports accidents; refers questions to the nurse for follow-up; communicates effectively with the rehabilitation team
• Provides and receives shift-to-shift reports to ensure continuity of patient care
• Observes safety rules, standard precautions and fire regulations; maintains patient confidentiality and privacy
• Interacts with patients, families, peers and supervisors in a calm, positive and courteous manner
• Assists nurse with patient admissions, transfers and discharges; safeguards patients' belongings; may assist with photographing new admissions for the medical record; collects specimens as assigned and transports to the lab if required
• Observe BLS requirements
• Education:
  
  provide proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing or the equivalent
• Skilled in utilizing a variety of nursing equipment
• Possess interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patient families, physicians and other hospital staff
• CPR required
• Post offer employment testing (POETs) completes as part of onboarding before the first day of work
