Travel RN - Psychiatric

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Behavioral Health unit with required BLS and CPI certifications and experience with adult and geriatric psychiatric populations.

Job Details

• Work in a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital,

• Assignment is in the Behavioral Health unit, serving adult and geriatric psychiatric patients with some comorbidities,

• Day shifts, 3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30, with every other weekend required,

• Patient ratio is 1:6,

• Required to float within service line and to all Behavioral Health units as needed,

• Uses Epic EMR system; previous Epic experience required,

• No on-call responsibilities,

Job Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required,

• BLS and CPI certifications required,

• Minimum 1 year of inpatient behavioral health nursing experience required,

• Experience required with geriatric psychiatry, locked units, substance use/chemical dependency, and medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC),

• Must have skills in starting and maintaining IVs, blood glucose monitoring, and Foley catheter insertion/maintenance,

• Epic charting experience required,

• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility,

• No local candidates accepted,

• Pending license accepted for consideration,

Additional Information

• Duties may include medication administration, pre-op prep for ECT, restraint application, presence in the milieu, and working as charge nurse when needed,

• Care is provided primarily to adult and geriatric patients, including those with dementia, depression, Parkinson's Disease, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and some with medical-surgical needs,

• Scrub color is navy,

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,

• No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, and no time off permitted during orientation,

• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler,

• Monthly parking passes are available for a fee,
