Job Details
• Short-term acute care hospital setting - Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma, teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds,
• Behavioral Health unit serving adult and geriatric psychiatric patients (18+), including those with co-morbid medical conditions requiring a med-surg approach,
• Patient diagnoses include dementia, depression, Parkinson's Disease, bipolar disorder, anxiety, substance use disorders, and other behavioral health conditions,
• Patient ratio of 1:6,
• Inpatient locked psychiatric unit environment,
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30),
• Every other weekend required,
• Floating required within the behavioral health service line and to all BH units,
• No on-call requirements,
• Block scheduling is not available,
• Charting performed in Epic (experience required),
Job Requirements
• Active MO RN license or compact RN license from candidate's state of permanent residence required,
• Current BLS and CPI certifications required,
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, with both medical and psychiatric experience,
• Experience in geriatric and inpatient psychiatric care required,
• Experience in a locked psychiatric unit required,
• Experience with substance use/chemical dependency population required,
• Proficiency in medication administration via multiple routes (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC, etc.) required,
• Ability to start and maintain IVs required,
• Blood glucose monitoring and Foley catheter insertion/maintenance skills required,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Med/Surg experience within the past 3 years required,
• Valid SSN and date of birth required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include milieu presence, IV starts, restraint application, pre-op prep for ECT patients, and serving as charge nurse as needed,
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred,
• Teaching hospital experience preferred,
• Experience with ECT is preferred,
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible - no local candidates accepted,
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler,
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required before returning,
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment,
• Pre-start orientation modules are required to be completed prior to the start date,
• Fit testing is required; candidates with facial hair must be able to achieve a proper fit seal or will be expected to shave,
• Navy scrubs required,
• Monthly parking passes are available on-site at varying rates,
• First-time travelers are not eligible for auto-offer consideration, but the manager is open to interviewing them - they will be evaluated through a clinical screening process,
