American Traveler is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health RN for an inpatient psychiatric unit with geriatric and adult patient populations who holds a MO or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Work in an inpatient Behavioral Health setting at a short-term acute care hospital,

• Patient ratio is 1:6 and includes adult and older adult populations with psychiatric and medical co-morbidities,

• Typical conditions include substance use, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, dementia, and schizophrenia,

• Responsibilities include medication administration (PO, rectal, IM, IV, SC), starting and maintaining IVs, blood glucose monitoring, Foley catheter care, insulin management, colostomy care, CPAP use, and minor wound care,

• Utilizes Epic EMR; prior experience required,

• Shifts are 3x12 hour days, 7:00-19:30, with every other weekend required,

• Floating may be required within the service line to other Behavioral Health units,

Job Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license in hand or pending at time of consideration,

• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient psychiatric nursing experience required,

• Certifications required: BLS, CPI,

• Clinical experience with geriatric, medical/psych, substance use, behavioral health locked units, and medication administration required,

• Epic EMR experience required,

• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler,

• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility,

• No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed for each 13-week contract, and no time off permitted during the first week of orientation,

Additional Information

• Care for patients age 18-64 with a range of psychiatric and secondary medical diagnoses,

• Patients may require pre-op preparation for ECT and management of aggressive behaviors,

• Environment includes Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Trauma Center,

• Navy scrubs required,

• First-time travelers may be considered after clinical screening and manager interview,

• Travelers will be paid up to 16 hours for completion of required onboarding modules during orientation,

• Travel contracts can last up to 18 months consecutively, followed by a required 3-month break,
