Overview

The Cardiac PCU is a vital unit that manages patients transferred from the ED, CCU, admissions, procedure areas, and other hospital units, as well as patients from outside hospitals. The population includes individuals diagnosed with myocardial infarction requiring cardiac catheterization, congestive heart failure, heart arrhythmias, and pulmonary hypertension. The unit emphasizes advanced medication infusions and post‑cardiac procedure care.

Responsibilities
  • Promote patient and family centered care in a healing environment, and educate patients and families on post‑treatment home care and medication administration.
  • Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance, and professional development.
  • Develop, implement, and document individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patients, families, or caregivers, and proactively communicate the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care, and assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely as this is a safety‑sensitive position.
Minimum Requirements

    Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing

    Certifications:

    Registered Nursing (RN) license

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (under 2 years of experience)
