Travel RN - Operating Room - Cardiovascular​/CVOR

Position: Travel RN - Operating Room - Cardiovascular OR/CVOR
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVOR position at a large academic Level 1 trauma hospital, requiring both scrub and circulate experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery.

Job Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting with 1,266 staffed beds, classified as an academic teaching facility and Level 1 trauma center,

• CVOR unit handling primarily cardiac and thoracic cases, with additional procedures including vascular (open and endovascular), transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), and Whipple (pancreatic) procedures,

• Both scrubbing and circulating are required in this role,

• Day shift schedule with rotating start times (3x12-hour shifts, 6:15 AM-6:45 PM) Monday through Friday,

• On-call required as needed - approximately 3-4 weekday and 1-2 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule, with actual frequency determined by unit needs,

• Weekend call required per unit call policy,

• Floating within the cardiovascular service line required to meet facility needs,

• Epic EMR used for charting; experience with Epic is required,

• Block scheduling is not available for this position,

• Holiday coverage required; holidays discussed with staff in advance,

Job Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license candidates may be considered with a note,

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,

• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered if that experience was gained at a Level 1 trauma facility,

• Demonstrated scrub and circulate experience in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery required,

• Experience with Epic EMR required,

• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted,

• BSN preferred,

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are considered only if they have more than 2 years of CVOR experience at a Level 1 trauma facility,

• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation,

• Travelers may remain at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning,

• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before working as a traveler at any BJC location,

• Navy scrubs required,

• Monthly parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department at various on-campus locations; pricing and availability may vary
