Barnes‑Jewish Hospital is a large teaching hospital in St. Louis, affiliated with Washington University School of Medicine. It serves a diverse population and offers a wide range of clinical services.

The Graduate Nurse provides direct patient‑care activities—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—within the standards of nursing care after completing a nursing program and before licensure.

Graduates must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation from an accredited school of nursing to remain employed in a health‑service organization in the state of Missouri.

• Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Uses critical thinking to assess and evaluate patient physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
• Develops and implements individual plans of care in collaboration with healthcare team members, according to established guidelines and nursing standards.
