American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down Unit night shift position requiring at least 2 years of bedside experience and proficiency with vents, vasopressors, and insulin drips.

• Acute care hospital setting with 233 total staffed beds
• Step Down Unit (SDU) assignment
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Manages patients requiring titration of vasopressors and sedation medications, insulin drips, trach vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• 2 shifts required every other weekend; night shift weekends may fall on Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on existing rotation
• May float to lower-acuity floors as needed
• No on-call requirement
• Free parking on site

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in MO required at time of consideration; IL candidates may submit with a pending IL license
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of Step Down or comparable bedside nursing experience required
• Must have hands‑on experience with vents, titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin drips
• Experience with arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes required
• Active bedside practice within the last 6 months required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

• First‑time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Navy scrubs required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13‑week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may remain at a BJC facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3‑month break in service is required
• Block scheduling is not available for this position
