Occupational Health Registered Nurse
Schedule: Monday–Friday 7:00am-5:00pm.
Start Date: June 1, 2026
Position SummaryThe Occupational Health Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality clinical care in an occupational health setting, supporting injury management, health screenings, and workplace wellness initiatives. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to work independently, and effective collaboration with licensed providers to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities- Utilize professional nursing expertise to assess patient care needs, prioritize treatment, and support efficient patient flow.
- Identify, respond to, and manage medical emergencies within the legal scope of nursing practice.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician or licensed independent practitioner.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including patient histories, physical examinations, vital signs, and diagnostic testing, in accordance with state scope of practice.
- Collaborate with physicians and licensed independent practitioners to coordinate additional medical care and referrals as needed.
- Conduct occupational health screenings and testing, including EKGs, audiometry, spirometry, and vision exams, in accordance with site-specific contracts.
- Perform laboratory testing and required quality control procedures.
- Accurately document assessments, treatments, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care in medical records, including electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Assess patient education needs and provide appropriate health education and training.
- Maintain a clean, safe clinical environment and adhere to infection control standards.
- Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the lead clinician for evaluation and repair.
- Participate in follow-up phone calls and patient visits as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Active and unrestricted Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- CAOHC certification preferred.
- NIOSH certification preferred.
- Prior occupational health experience required;
or a minimum of five (5) years of Emergency Medicine experience in lieu of occupational health experience. - Working knowledge of medical terminology related to illness, injury, and disability classification.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules based on site needs, including weather-related closures, extended shifts, or last-minute schedule changes.
