Location: St. Louis

Job Summary

Pre‑licensure graduate of an accredited nursing program who actively participates in SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Under the direction of an RN, provides care to patients within scope of role and professional standards. Responsible for the delivery of age‑appropriate care for assigned patients with a wide variety of medical conditions.

Schedule

Full time, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. with varying nights, every 3rd weekend, holiday requirement, no on‑call requirement.

Eligibility
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Eligible to practice as determined by the State Board of Nursing
  • Less than one year of experience working as an RN
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in nursing care activities for the population served.
  • Perform patient assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age‑appropriate needs.
  • Develop realistic, comprehensive patient/family education plans using appropriate resources and methods of instruction.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation per state requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate delivery of nursing care by team members based on patient needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other health‑care professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
  • Participate in training to understand and perform patient care and complete competency requirements satisfactorily.
  • Demonstrate professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model and use the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to patient needs.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalency for licensing.
Experience

No experience required.

Licensing & Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or within 90 days of eligibility
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) within 3 months of official NCLEX Pass Date (Illinois) or within 3 months of graduation date (Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin)
  • NCLEX results to be provided within 30–90 days of graduation or test date, depending on state
  • Wisconsin Nursing Temporary Permit (for Wisconsin)
