Role Overview

The New Graduate Nurse position at Barnes–Jewish Hospital is available for student nurses graduating between June and August 2026 with an ADN, BSN, or MSN, who are entering their first RN role.

This role connects graduates with the Graduate Nurse recruitment team, who assist with the Staff Nurse application process and help applicants select units of interest.

• Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Uses critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate patients’ physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
• Develops and implements individual plans of care in collaboration with other healthcare team members in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
• Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment.
• Evaluates patient’s response and modifies the plan of care accordingly throughout the patient’s stay.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development.
• Maintains readiness for safety‑sensitive duties and operates in a constant state of alertness.

• Nursing Diploma/Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

• Graduate Nursing Diploma (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
