Overview

Barnes–Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation’s top hospitals. The Labor and Delivery department is a 23‑bed unit with spacious labor, delivery, and recovery suites that provide a soothing and safe patient experience.

• Schedule:
  
  nights 7 pm–7:30 am on every third weekend rotation and 12 hours of call in a 6‑week schedule.
• Previous learning and development experience preferred.

• Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment and educates patients and their families about home care and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance and engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and involves the patient, family, or caregiver according to established guidelines and standards.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, barriers, values, culture, and population‑specific needs.
• Maintains a constant state of alertness to ensure safe care, as this is a safety‑sensitive position.

  Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree.
