Position: Med-Surg RN – Long Term Assignment (Nights) – CSO
Additional Information About the Role

Join BJC Health Care’s Central Staffing Office (CSO) as a Regional Float Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) – Long-Term Assignment (LTA) and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across the system. In this role, you’ll support 11 BJC hospitals across Missouri and Illinois (excluding Children’s Hospital) while gaining consistency through extended assignments at a single hospital location.

LTA nurses are placed at one hospital for a defined period, allowing you to become familiar with the team, unit, and workflows while still experiencing the variety of working across a leading health system. This role is designed for experienced Med/Surg nurses seeking greater stability than traditional float roles, without being tied to one home unit long-term.

You’ll work three 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM or 7:00 PM start) with a rotating weekend and holiday schedule in an environment that values connection, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Job Highlights

What You Bring:

  • 2+ years of acute care Med/Surg RN experience (required)
  • Current Missouri RN license + ability to obtain Illinois RN license
  • Willingness to travel between BJC facilities in MO & IL
  • Strong adaptability with ability to integrate into new teams quickly
  • ADN, BSN, or MSN accepted

Role Purpose

A BJC Central Staffing Office nurse will be required to float to 12 BJC Healthcare Hospitals within their Medical, Surgical, and Telemetry Units. Provides direct patient care activities including assessment/evaluation, diagnosis and plan implementation to the general nursing floor based on nursing expertise and certification/licensure. Provides a variety of experiences and the opportunity to expand nursing skills through caring for various patients with different conditions and treatment plans while building professional relationships across the BJC Healthcare system.

Must be flexible, adaptable, and resourceful, have a strong confidence in nursing practice and promote exceptional patient and family centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
  • Uses standards of medical-surgical nursing practice to increase the quality of care and quality of life for the patient, family, and significant other(s) by systematically evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Establishes effective relationships and serves as an advocate to facilitate the development of the care plan unique to the patient’s care needs. Uses the nursing process and evidence based practice to develop and implement the plan of care, collect assessment data for each patient, determine appropriate nursing diagnoses, identify expected patient outcomes, determine the plan of care, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
