Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer driven approach.

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment, including admission and transfer assessments, post‑op assessments, and continuous monitoring of patient status.
• Document assessment findings completely and accurately.
• Develop and coordinate a patient‑specific plan of care based on assessment data, diagnoses, lab results, physician orders, protocols, and standards of care.
• Formulate nursing interventions to achieve short‑ and long‑term goals, integrating evidence‑based practice.
• Provide and document nursing interventions, including medication administration, IV fluid management, and parenteral nutrition, following policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate daily care and communicate care plans, including accurate handoff reports.
• Implement specialty care for high‑risk patients, including restraint management, pain management, and abuse assessment.
• Maintain infection control practices and document nursing care and changes in patient condition.
• Recognize and act on changes in patient condition, communicating promptly with physicians and other team members.
• Provide patient and family education and discharge planning, ensuring clarity and comprehension.
• Follow up on special orders and perform clinical tasks such as procedures, tests, and patient repositioning.
• Act responsibly for patient safety, report incidents, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a resource to team members, students, and new staff, demonstrating professional behavior and leadership.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and environmental standards, including proper use of protective equipment and safe patient handling.
• Assist in developing and implementing unit goals, participating in committees and quality improvement projects.
• Maintain currency with regulations, policies, and continuing education requirements.

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Missouri.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly in a fast‑paced hospital environment, including irregular hours and emergency situations.
• Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration, patient education, and documentation.
• Experience with evidence‑based practice and performance improvement processes preferred.
• Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.

• Exposure to blood‑borne diseases and other hospital hazards.
• Handling emergency, crisis, and unpredictable situations.
• Irregular hours and potential overtime.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and occasional stooping or kneeling.
