Job Summary
Licensed new graduate nurse from an accredited nursing program who actively participates in SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Provides professional nursing care to patients, which includes assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and monitoring tasks assigned to other members of the care team in accordance with professional nursing standards. Responsible for the delivery of age‑appropriate care for assigned patients with a wide variety of medical conditions.
Job Responsibilities- Performs specialized tasks based on demonstrated competence to provide nursing care for patient population served.
- Performs patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age‑appropriate needs of the patients, and assesses nutrition, pain management, and signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
- Develops a realistic, comprehensive patient family educational plan, using appropriate resources and methods of instruction, and provides patient/family health education and coaching.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation including processing of physician orders in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Monitors and evaluates delivery of nursing care given by team members based on patient needs and professional judgement.
- Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
- Completes competency and requirements.
- Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge in nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age‑ and clinical‑specific needs as described in the department’s scope of service.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing.
- No experience required.
Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more), and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running.
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA)

Registered Nurse (RN) – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services OR RN issued by Compact State - Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) for each state.
Night Shift (United States of America). Shift: 7p–7a varying days with every 3rd weekend, holiday requirement, no on‑call requirement.
