RN – SSM Health DePaul Hospital – St.Louis

Schedule:

12‑hour shifts (0700‑1900), three times a week with a weekend and holiday rotation. Sign‑on bonus may be available for eligible external candidates; internal candidates should consult a recruiter.

Job Summary

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Uses standards of medical‑surgical nursing practice to increase the quality of care and quality of life for the patient, family and significant others through systematic evaluation of nursing practice, planning and implementation of individualized care plans, and continual assessment of outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Establish effective relationships and advocate with the patient, family and significant others to facilitate development of unique care plans tailored to the patient’s needs.
  • Use the nursing process to develop and implement the plan of care, collect assessment data, determine nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes.
  • Develop assessment and management strategies considering physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure dimensions of patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of impact of illness and patient status across all dimensions.
  • Utilize leadership skills by coordinating and collaborating with the patient, family, significant others, community members and inter‑professional team to assess needs, set goals, plan interventions, provide care and evaluate outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively in collaborative decision‑making that reflects culturally sensitive, ethical, legal and humane care within resource constraints.
  • Educate patient, family and significant others on measures that promote, maintain and restore health or promote comfort.
  • Mentor and model professional nursing conduct, fostering a healthy work environment and serving as a guide to colleagues, students and others.
  • Apply evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge in medical‑surgical nursing practice, ensuring care is based on age‑specific and clinical needs.
  • Maintain constant vigilance and work safely; perform point‑of‑care testing, if permitted, and perform other duties as assigned.
Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.

Experience

No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements

Constant speech and oral communication; standing and walking; frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0‑25lb; frequent sitting, reaching, keyboard use/data entry; frequent use of vision, hearing, smell; occasional lifting/moving of patients and objects weighing 25‑50lb; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, repetitive motions; occasional driving; rare crawling and running. Must be able to use vision and depth perception for distances near (20in or less) and far (20ft or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

Required

Professional License and/or Certifications

State of Missouri;
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA);
Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration, or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State.
