Position Details
Outpatient Opportunity in Cardiac Diagnostic Lab – (2) shifts within 6 weeks, Monday–Friday days 7:30 am–4:00 pm. PRN Position. No weekends, holidays, or call. Requires 2 years RN experience in a cardiac space.
OverviewBarnes‑Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and a nationally ranked specialty hospital. The Washington University Heart Care Institute in West County offers outpatient services including cardiac catheterization, cardiovascular diagnostic services, cardiac rehabilitation, and wellness programs. The Institute operates Monday through Friday during normal business hours and is located on the Barnes‑Jewish West County Hospital campus in Creve Coeur.
RolePurpose
Provides direct patient care to identified patients in collaboration with providers and the care team to assess, develop, and implement a plan of care to deliver clinically appropriate, high‑quality, cost‑effective care. The ambulatory RN offers oversight and guidance to clinical staff working in the clinic and helps support providers with daily patient management.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with PCPs and specialists to develop and implement care plans to maximize healthcare outcomes and facilitate wellness with periodic review and update according to department protocols.
- Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patient’s physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
- Assure that clinical protocols and patient assessment guidelines are followed in accordance with standard operating procedures and compliance guidelines.
- Support providers in appropriately documenting patient assessment and treatment protocols in accordance with compliance standards.
- Provide patient education and support, including verbal and written instructions; assess the patient’s and/or family’s ability to receive education and use the appropriate tools and techniques. Take initiative to problem‑solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and act in a safe manner as required by BJC safety‑sensitive position requirements.
- Education:
Nursing Diploma/Associate’s in Nursing - Experience:
2–5 years RN experience, including 2 years in cardiac space - Supervisor
Experience:
None required - Licences &
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; MSN - Experience:
5–10 years RN experience, with stress test and IV proficiency as preferred - Other:
Proficiency with EKG and IV experience
