Clinical Nurse Emergency Room PRN

Additional Information About the Role

• PRN, 2‑12 hour shifts per 6‑week schedule
• One holiday per year rotating winter/summer
• Prior ED experience required
• Not a designated trauma center
• Level 1 for STEMIs

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offering a full continuum of medical and surgical services.

The hospital operates a 24‑hour adult emergency department and a pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

The emergency department treats more than 30,000 cases per year and features 20 private treatment rooms along with a four‑bed Chest Pain Center, a collaboration between the Cardiac & Vascular Center and the Emergency Department.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment; educates patients and families on illness or injury management, post-treatment home care needs, and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance and engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient, family, or caregiver, ensuring communication across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, including patient preferences, barriers, values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
• Maintains a constant state of alertness and works safely, as required for this safety‑sensitive position.

Minimum Requirements

• Education:
  
  Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing
• Experience:
  
  No prior experience required
• Licenses &

  RN

Preferred Requirements

  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or equivalent)

  Less than 2 years
