Position SummaryDon’t miss the chance to join our team at WashU Department of Pediatric Urologic Surgery.
We are a growing pediatric division which currently has 5 providers that see patients in several locations including St. Louis Children’s Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Specialty Care in West County. Our staff is comprised of RNs, MAs and Medical Secretaries. The nurse helps to serve as a clinical resource in pediatric urology. The RN role is multifaceted with an emphasis on in-office procedures.
This role also includes assisting providers with patient care, pre‑op education, diagnostic testing and some administrative/back‑office job duties.
This position provides direct patient care and education for patients receiving treatments, examinations, surgeries, etc., in a medical office according to established procedures.
This is a Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm role with no weekends or holidays.
Job DescriptionPrimary
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating a plan of patient care.
- Provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
- Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/families regarding disease process and symptom management.
- Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
- Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs, staff meetings and in services such as CPR as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
