We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Assistant Nurse Manager to help lead our Acute Internal Medicine Unit.

Acute Care Medicine has patients with a full range of clinical issues—from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma and a multitude of other conditions and diseases. Due to the patient acuity on the nursing division, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning. Each unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse.
The unit is supported by an advanced practice nurse. Additionally each unit is assigned a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with the physicians, nurses and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care.
The Assistant Nurse Manager provides administrative support to Nurse Managers and direct reports. This includes coordinating patient care, performance management of direct reports, equipment purchasing/management, and statistical accumulation.
Responsibilities- Hire, train, assign work, and manage performance of direct reports; conduct professional development plans.
- Ensure productivity and actions of the group support overall operational goals of the department.
- Participate in the development and adherence to departmental staffing, revenue and expense budgets.
- Provide and oversee patient care according to planned interventions; document according to policy.
- Create and implement collaborative care plans based on assessment, diagnosis, and medical treatment.
- Review staff hours worked versus scheduled hours and determine appropriate disposition for variations.
- Perform and approve daily payroll updates; reconcile time cards, bonus tracking, and coding approval.
- Prepare, coordinate, and execute all staff communications, including huddle agendas and meeting facilitation.
- Determine staffing needs and make nursing assignments, including overtime; recommend annual increases.
- Interview staff for open positions; evaluate, conduct performance reviews, draft corrective actions/coaching, and follow up on disciplinary actions.
- Conduct performance evaluations; recommend improvement areas.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree – Nursing
Supervisor experience: 2-5 years preferred; 5-10 years is preferred; less than 2 years not required.
Licenses & CertificationsRN license required; preferred qualifications include 5-10 years of supervisor experience.
