Overview

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking a Team Lead Charge Nurse to provide clinical and operational leadership within the Emergency Department. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, this role coordinates unit activities during an assigned shift, supports frontline staff, and serves as a clinical resource to the nursing team. The Charge Nurse helps ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while maintaining an efficient and collaborative work environment.

$15,000 Sign-on Bonus

Role Purpose

Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of the assigned unit as needed.

• Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting. Critically assess patient data to mitigate impending changes in condition and establish consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate.
• Leads the development and implementation of complex plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient/family in accordance with established standards of nursing care.
• Promotes evidence-based practice and supports practice changes based on new knowledge; facilitates education to share new knowledge with the team.
• Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers to enhance safe patient care. Leads the evaluation of patient and family experience and adjusts care to improve outcomes.
• BJC safety-sensitive policy: ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
