Job Summary
Pre‑licensure graduate of an accredited nursing program participating in SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Provides patient care under the direction of an RN preceptor, performing assessments, documenting care, coordinating services, and collaborating with the health team within the scope of a registered nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and reassessments for admissions, transfers, and postoperative patients.
- Document findings accurately and completely in the electronic medical record.
- Establish, coordinate, and evaluate individualized plans of care based on assessment data, patient diagnoses, lab results, and physician orders.
- Provide and document nursing interventions, including medication administration, IV fluids, nutrition support, and family education.
- Collaborate with the inter‑professional team to develop and communicate daily care plans, handoff reports, and care transitions.
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns to the RN or physician as needed.
- Implement infection control practices, use safe patient handling techniques, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Assist with procedural tasks, including preparing patients for surgeries and assisting physicians.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, quality improvement, and unit governance activities.
- Maintain competency in all required licensure and certification requirements.
- New graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Eligible to obtain RN licensure in Missouri within six months of graduation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or pending within 90 days).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and clinical assessment skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, shift‑based environment and respond to emergencies.
- Physical Requirements
:
Standing, walking, occasional lifting and transferring patients. - Working Conditions
:
May involve exposure to blood borne pathogens, irregular hours, and emergency situations.
Full time, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., rotating nights, one weekend per month, holiday coverage, no on‑call requirement.
