Position: Clinical Partner OR Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Overview

MO-SSM Health DePaul Hospital – St.Louis – Worker Type:
Regular. This part‑time, day‑shift position requires two 12‑hour shifts per week with a weekend and holiday rotation. Shift times are 7:00am to 7:00pm.

Responsibilities
  • Receive patient care assignments from the registered nurse in charge
  • Initiate delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence for the specific patient age group served
  • Collect and document data for admission, assessment, and reassessment at scheduled times
  • Provide appropriate data to the licensed nurse for analysis and validate a patient’s response to care or treatment, reporting significant changes
  • Relay information through charting and communicate with team members
  • Inform the licensed nurse of any changes in patient condition, needs, complaints, or educational requirements for patients and significant others
  • Answer patient calls for help, take vital signs, and monitor behavior and physical condition for progress or deterioration
  • Assist with baths, ambulation, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, and bed preparation
  • Perform dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep‑breathing exercises, catheter care, collection of biological specimens, and measure and record intake and output of fluids
  • Prepare patients for discharge and accompany them upon dismissal as indicated
  • Stock and maintain supplies and equipment in line with patient care needs and cost containment goals
  • Assist with delegated clerical duties such as answering telephones, relaying messages, transcribing physician orders, and organizing the patient’s medical record
  • Orient new patients and significant others to the nursing unit
  • Operate equipment as recommended, recognize common mechanical problems, and initiate appropriate corrective action
  • May perform point‑of‑care testing according to policies and procedures
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and maintain a safe environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Certifications
  • Must have at least one of the following:
    Missouri CNA license, prior experience as a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Surgical Technician, Patient Care Technician (PCT), or Behavioral Health Technician, or enrollment in a nursing program with completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing program
  • Required professional license and/or certification varies by state:
    Illinois: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) – Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)
    Missouri: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) – Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services
    Oklahoma: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Advanced Unlicensed Assistant – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) – Oklahoma State Department of Health
    Wisconsin: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking; frequent use of hearing and speech for communication and to detect alarms and machinery noises
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25lb; occasional lifting of 25–50lb and moving patients
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, keyboard use, and data entry; occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, squatting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements
  • Frequent use of vision for near and far distances; occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships
  • Occasional driving and use of smell to detect or recognize odors
