American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Medical Intermediate (Stepdown) position in St. Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of cardiac stepdown experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Details- Night shift position, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 or 48 hours per week
- 16-week assignment
- Inpatient cardiac medical intermediate (stepdown) unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain
- Patient ratio of 1:3 to 1:4 on a 32-bed unit
- Equipment used includes chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
- EMR:
Epic (experience required) - Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
- Active RN license in Missouri or a compact license eligible for Missouri endorsement
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient cardiac stepdown experience required
- No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
- Role is within a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
- Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidate must be available the entire orientation week
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be approved but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request allowed per assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius is required
- Flu vaccination (or a Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Scrub color required: all black with a Mercy logo on the top
- Unacceptable attire includes hoodies, non-Mercy logo jackets, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, and fake nails
